GAINESVILLE, Fla. (SI.com/AP) -- The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting the team will allow Billy Donovan to back out of his contract and return to the Gators. The Magic are pursuing former Heat coach Stan Van Gundy to fill the now-vacant position.
Earlier on Monday, the team issued a statement saying that Donovan is "conflicted" about his decision to leave the Florida Gators to coach the Orlando Magic, and he will continue talking with the NBA team about the contract he agreed to last week.
It's unclear whether Donovan had signed the five-year, $27.5 million contract with the Magic.
