Playing for pride and an effort to show Detroit that they deserve to be in the second round of the playoffs, the Chicago Bulls defeated the Detroit Pistons at the United Center, 102-87.
The game was almost a carbon copy of game three. Chicago was in control most of the first half taking a nice lead into halftime. The intense defense was not as stellar as in game three, but nevertheless the Bulls led 50-43.
Remembering what happened in game three, Chicago came out in the 3rd quarter and treated the fans and the national audience to the stellar defense that was shown in the previous game and out scored Detroit 27-13 to take a commanding 21 point lead into the 4th quarter.
Detroit has a very good team and you knew they would make a run. They did! This time the Bulls didn't fold even though their lead was cut down to just 7 points with plenty of time left in the game.
Detroit went to the Wallace-hack-attack but it failed them Ben managed to hit 3 of 4 big free throws to stop the run and rookie Tyrus Thomas added his energy and scoring as well to help the Bulls seal the victory and to force a game 5.
Kirk Hinrich finally had a good game. He had 19 points, 10 assists and 2 steals to go with 4 rebounds.
The Bulls out rebounded Detroit 51-33. Wallace had 17, Deng 13. Thomas had 7 in just 13 minutes.
