Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, Adam Kennedy blooped a single down the right-field line. Chris Duncan then doubled to move Kennedy over to third. After an Albert Pujols popout and a Jim Edmonds walk, Rolen came though with a single to give the Cards the lead.
The Cards added one more in the inning with a RBI groundout by Ryan Ludwick, playing in his first game as a Cardinal after being called up from Triple-A Memphis.
That's all the Cards offense could generate, continuing their recent struggles at the plate, marking the eighth straight game the Cards scored three runs or less.
That's where Braden Looper comes in! Finally, Cardinal pitching held a team at bay! He pitched 6 strong innings, giving up just 6 hits and 1 run. He had 3 strike outs. Three relief pitchers allowed 4 harmless hits the rest of the game.
The Cardinals had 7 hits as a team with Kennedy leading off the order getting 3 of those hits!
WP Looper 2-2, Isringhausen gets save #8.
