Cardinals lose two more

Inter-league play started on Friday and St. Louis was scheduled to play Detroit. They lost the first two games. Below is a recap of the games.

Game one.

Braden Looper managed to pitch just 4 innings. That should give you a hint as to how the game went. Detroit slammed St. Louis 14-4. Looper allowed 9 hits on 7 runs that included 2 home runs, one to Sheffield his 7th of the year. The other was to Ordonez his 9th.

Was there any bright spots for the Redbirds? : Pujols was 4-4 with two rbi's and scored 1 run. He also got his 7th home run of the season.

WP Andrew Miller 1-0. He pitched 6 innings allowing only 4 hits and no runs.
LP Braden Looper 5-3.

Game two.

Well we have some more good news and bad news. Good news is St. Louis got 7 runs as their bats came alive! Bad news is yet another Cardinal pitcher struggled! Anthony Reyes could only go 5 2/3 innings. He gave up 9 hits on 7 runs. One of the runs was a home run by Rodriguez, his 4th of the year.

The Cardinals pounded out 15 hits and scored 7 runs, but that was not enough to get the win. Spiezio had 4 hits while Eckstein had 3.

WP Nate Robertson 4-3.Todd Jones recorded save #14.
LP Anthony Reyes 0-7. He now has an era of 5.84.
