Finally some good news to write about! First off the Cardinals scored 4 runs! The second thing is that was enough to win thanks to rookie pitcher Brad Thompson's 5 strong innings of pitching! He gave up just 6 hits and 1 run, striking out two and he gave up 1 home run to left fielder Matt Holliday his 6th home run of the year.
There is even more good news! Jim Edmonds going into last nights game was struggling to bat barely over .200, had 3 hits last night and 1 sacrifice out to help seal the victory.
All is not great, just yet. There is still cause for concern. The recent 5 game home stand the Redbirds have scored in just 5 of 42 innings. Yet they have managed to win 3 of 5 games; however, if the bats continue to remain silent, that could change the win/loss dissparity for the worse.
WP Kelvin Jimene 1-0 Isringhausen save #9
LP Denny Bautista 2-1, he pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up 2 hits and 3 runs.
